Description
SpecSeal® LCC Firestop Collars – STI Firestop
SpecSeal® LCC Firestop Collars are factory-manufactured firestop devices designed for use on combustible plastic piping up to 4 in. trade size. Each LCC Collar pairs a durable galvanized steel restraining collar with a factory-applied intumescent material, ensuring the correct amount of firestop material is used every time — eliminating the guesswork of field-applied wraps or sealants.
Why factory-sized collars matter
Field-measured firestop wrap strips depend on installer judgment to get coverage and thickness right. LCC Collars remove that variable: each collar is pre-engineered for a specific pipe trade size, so the intumescent char volume and expansion rate are consistent on every installation. This reduces inspection failures, speeds up rough-in schedules on commercial fit-outs, and simplifies documentation for fire-rated wall and floor penetrations.
Where LCC Collars are used
- Plastic pipe penetrations (PVC, CPVC, ABS) through fire-rated gypsum walls and concrete floor slabs
- Riser penetrations in high-rise residential and commercial buildings
- Retrofit fire-stopping where existing plastic pipework passes through newly rated partitions
- Mechanical rooms and service shafts with dense plastic pipe runs
How it works
At 320°F (160°C), the intumescent lining begins to expand, closing off the pipe opening as the plastic pipe softens or burns through — preventing flame and smoke spread between compartments. The collar’s steel shell restrains the expanding char, directing it inward to seal the penetration rather than allowing it to expand outward.
